DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE BENQ W1700 PROJECTOR
Building a home theater is a difficult matter. You need to set a budget and make sure you get the right audio and video quality for the money you pay. It’s not as simple as choosing a TV and a speaker. You need to know if you need a TV or projector, a 5.1 system or a 7.1.2 system. Do you want to install a special home theater in one room or is it a universal device? Here are some questions that we will cover in another story. Today we have the BENQ W1700 4K HDR projector with us. The device has an MRP worth several thousand dollars, but at the time of writing this review it was available on Amazon. If you are looking for a state-of-the-art TV, for about 2.5 points you can buy a 55-inch OLED from Sony or LG. For the same MRP, you get a BenQ W1700 4K HDR projector, which can give you an image with a size of more than 100 inches. Is it worth it?
CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN
Talking about the design of the BENQ W1700 projector, everything is made of plastic with carefully thought out connection options on the back. On the top it has all the controls of the cover, such as power supply, power supply, eco-black, menu mode, navigation and much more. It also has a control wheel for zooming and focusing. The projector weighs just over 4 kg and has rounded corners that give it a slightly oval shape. Touch the projector and you will feel that it is made of hard plastic, and this is a good thing.
The projector has 3 height-adjustable legs at the bottom. The legs can be used to tilt, lower or lift, depending on how you position the projector. If you need a permanent fixation, I recommend placing the projector over the sealant. In this way, its position cannot be changed.
In general, the design of the projector is what you expect: it is simple and minimalist, work-oriented.
CONNECTIONS AND CONNECTIVITY
All connectors are located on the back of the projector. They have a 3.5mm audio input, a 3.5mm audio output, VGA, 2 HDMI ports (one of which supports HDCP 2.2), a mini USB port, RS232, a USB port and, of course, a power connector.. All the ports are perfectly positioned, and I just want the two HDMI ports to be HDCP 2.2. However, if you are using it in a home theater system where you have an amplifier, make sure that your amplifier has an HDCP 2.2 output and that all of its inputs can reach the back of the amplifier.
The projector is also equipped with a 5-watt speaker, but given its visual presence, the speakers are disappointing. It is good that you are present.
In general, the connection options are diverse and very convenient if you use connections such as input/output of 3.5 mm or more. For those who invest in a projector, it makes sense to buy a good amplifier for your home theater to take advantage of all the connection possibilities.
FROM THE HOTEL
The projector also comes with a remote control. The on and off buttons are arranged separately, which is unique. Some controls on the remote control are the same as on the projector housing. It also has controls for the image modes, as well as controls for contrast, sharpness, gamma, color temperature and much more. The buttons on the remote control have a backlight, which is really convenient in the dark.
